11 Ways to be Guided by God
We all need guidance. Every day, for example, I will need my Google Maps to show me places. Otherwise I can never reached my destination and do things that I supposed to do. In this sophisticated path of life, we surely need guidance from God. As mentioned in Quran:
And Allah increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse.
And just like we need to install the Google Maps app to our phone, we need to know the secret to get God’s guidance. It’s all in Quran!
- TRUST Allah in every situations
No disaster strikes except by permission of Allah . And whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his heart. And Allah is Knowing of all things.
- Take a deep breath, hold it for 10 seconds and do it for at least 3x. Life can be confusing, but don’t panic
So whoever Allah wants to guide – He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide – He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe.
- Do what you love until you feel the peacefulness in your heart
By which Allah guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.
- Do good, be kind. Think about how you can help others
Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – their Lord will guide them because of their faith. Beneath them rivers will flow in the Gardens of Pleasure
- Be grateful and remain in the state of gratitude
[He was] grateful for His favors. Allah chose him and guided him to a straight path.
- Read Quran (and tafseer). Gain new knowledge and insightsQS 17:9
Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.
And thus have We sent the Qur’an down as verses of clear evidence and because Allah guides whom He intends.
- Find out God’s Laws in the universe and choose your act wisely based on the laws
Allah wants to make clear to you [the lawful from the unlawful] and guide you to the [good] practices of those before you and to accept your repentance. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
And Allah would not let a people stray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them what they should avoid. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things.
- Make an effort to convince Allah that you’re desperately need guidance
And those who strive for Us – We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good.
- Submit yourself to Allah
So if they argue with you, say, “I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me.” And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, “Have you submitted yourselves?” And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away – then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is Seeing of [His] servants.
- Remember Allah in your daily life
Allah has sent down the best statement: a consistent Book wherein is reiteration. The skins shiver therefrom of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of Allah . That is the guidance of Allah by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom Allah leaves astray – for him there is no guide.
- Give to charity
Not upon you, [O Muhammad], is [responsibility for] their guidance, but Allah guides whom He wills. And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves, and you do not spend except seeking the countenance of Allah . And whatever you spend of good – it will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged.
Once you feel the peacefulness, stay there. Preserve your guidance.
How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and had witnessed that the Messenger is true and clear signs had come to them? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
But Allah is loving and merciful. When you feel you’ve gone astray, just regret, repent, try to correct yourself and Allah will be ready to guide you back again.
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves – indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.
But also, please be respectful to the chances you’re given. Act wisely.
Indeed, those who have believed then disbelieved, then believed, then disbelieved, and then increased in disbelief – never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a way.
Let’s pray we’re one of the guided ones.
